Students learn the art of persuasion having selected debate topics they find appealing. Students work in rotating groups and practice their debating skills in a supportive environment. Skills taught include developing arguments, issuing rebuttals, providing examples, rebuilding their case and summarizing points of view.Students learn to think on their feet and enhance their public-speaking skills, gaining self confidence in the process.
Note: this is a 7 week session not our usual 8 week session, so the class should not overlap with 4th Grade Band (starting mid - late March). Debate Club Module 1 is not a prerequisite -- new and returning students are welcome!
